Sunil Manohar Gavaskar is a former cricketer who played for India and Bombay from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. Gavaskar, widely regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time and one of the best opening batsmen in Test cricket history, set world records for the most Test runs and Test centuries recorded by any batsman during his career. Before Sachin Tendulkar broke his record of 34 Test hundreds in December 2005, he owned the mark for almost two decades. He was the only player in Test history to reach a hundred in both innings three times.
